What is Swapn?

SWAPN means ‘dream’. This initiative was inspired by a dream to gift health to the Agaria mothers and their newborn babies. For a community to thrive, it needs to be healthy. The best way to instil health into a community is to focus on mothers and their journey of pregnancy. The Agaria community faces infant mortality every year due to a lack of resources and guidance. ‘SWAPN by SETU’ focuses on reducing the mortality rate by providing them with needed nutrition.

Who does it support?

SWAPN began in 2019 to support pregnant women during their journey of pregnancy. Only a healthy mother can give birth to a healthy child. Lack of financial resources keeps the Agaria women aloof from the needed nutrients and vitamins. This initiative intends to provide those women with the needed groceries for a healthy pregnancy. It exclusively covers the salt-worker, Agaria and underprivileged women in the adopted villages. It began with 3 villages and is not extended to 9 villages.

How Does it work?

A Mamta card is a document issued to all the pregnant women in the rural areas. SETU gets the data of pregnant women in the villages through the registrations for Mamta cards. The SETU team gets in touch with the women and provides them with a nutrition kit for the next 9 months.

The Nutrition kit is delivered to the mother every 15 days for the next 9 months. This kit includes fruits, vegetables, dry fruit, pulses, healthy sweets and other beneficial foods. The composition of the kit keeps on changing every 3 months to support the changing phase of pregnancy. The food kit has been designed by a doctor and an Ayurvedic practitioner (vaidya) for the best health of the mother and the child.
